Swallowing my pride as I'm writing this (forever learning to be brave) because it's important & I hope it'll benefit people, insyaallah.

Hi. I'm Wani Ardy, founder of MRKH Malaysia. MRKH Syndrome is a congenital malformation, happens to 1 in every 4,500 women. MRKH women were typically born without an organ - the uterus - impacting the kidneys, the skeletal, & the hearing, plus abnormalities in connected organs.

It's crucial to diagnose this early. MRKH affects a woman physically, psychologically, emotionally, socially, & sexually. If your daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, or female friend doesn't have any menses/period throughout her life, PLEASE make sure she goes to the hospital & meet a gynecologist ASAP.

In Asian countries, there are many cases whereby MRKH is detected late (e.g. after getting married), because girls with no menses are either too scared/ashamed to go to the doctor, or simply don't care enough to do anything, because sometimes the syndrome isn't visible from the outside.

THIS MUST STOP.

Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. PLEASE GET YOURSELF OR YOUR GIRLS CHECKED UP IF YOU/THEY HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED MENSTRUATION. MRKH women take years to embrace their identity & condition (we're not even talking about the acceptance of family/partner just yet). It's much more than- "not being able to get pregnant." The side effects can be overwhelming; a lifetime battle of surviving being in & out of various sickness, whilst struggling with self esteem & mental health issues.

While there are many MRKH women who lead a happy life, there are also those whose family/relationship become broken, those who fell into depression, & even committed suicide. Sadly, many happened in Asia, where it's "more normal" to not talk about "these things."

Sometimes not talking doesn't solve anything. The earlier the syndrome is detected, the earlier she can reach out for support & help on what to do next. (Yes, there's a manual. Sorta.)

Please spread this awareness. MRKH women who are hiding out there need to know they are not alone. & like any other girl in the world, they are worthy.
